Mosquitoes are small flies (about inch) that are usually active in the evening. They are characterized by white markings on their legs and wings.

(Culex spp., Anopheles spp., Aedes spp.) The immature stages of mosquitoes live in standing water and feed on microscopic organisms. The adult females are parasites and require a blood meal to develop their eggs. The adults usually remain close to their breeding site.

Inspect the yard and surrounding property for breeding sites. Remove open containers that can hold water, especially old tires, flower pots, and buckets. Prevention is the best control for these flies.
